Summer Run I, mixed media on canvas, 30" x 15". This was a fun one to do. I made a handful of linoleum prints on paper (the fish) and then layered them onto a painted canvas. The whole thing is covered in a layer of encaustic wax, so there's a nice patina over the surface.

I went in a new direction today. I'm trying to just paint again without worrying so much about subject and line and form. Those things can really overwhelm me sometimes, and it was nice to spend the morning playing with color and just painting. I love the smell of linseed in the morning...

The studio has been painted. White walls, red floor. It's so much nicer to spend time in there now--only I haven't been spending time in there. Summer is already drawing to a close here in the circumpolar north.
