I'm not quite satisfied with this one still. That upper lefthand corner remains problematic. I have ideas about a solution, but I worry that I'm futzing with things that don't need futzing. Is it losing its spontanaety? Did I spell that word right? Is the economy really taking a nose dive? When will we ever discover life on other planets?
Phase 3 can be treacherous terrain. One of my favorite artists, Caio Fonseca (who is an abstractionist, which is unusual for me) said in a recent interview:
"It's about restraint...if you keep adding perfect little elements there's a point where you get diminishing returns. There is something about an unfinished quality that leaves within you that sense of possibility"
Here here, Mr Fonseca. I wouldn't mind having a beer with you if you ever get up this way.
So Friday, when I'm back in the studio, keep your fingers crossed that I know when to say when.
